Sun Exposure : Know your skin type

The sun is a synonymous of warmth and well-being. But if sun exposure is badly prepared, it can cause a lot of damage such as sun burns, allergies or "hot flushes". In the long term, sun excess can cause much more dangerous effects: premature aging and development of skin cancers (melanones).
An adapted sun protection is therefore essential to only enjoy the beneficial effects of the sun. All skins do not react the same way to sun rays. It is important to know your skin type. It is defined by the color of your skin, of your hair, your reaction to sunburns and to your ability to tanning.
Here are categories skin types that will help you recognize your skin type :

Prevent Sun allergies :
> Back
Amongs some people, first sun exposures mostly cause cutaneaous allergies: little pimples and irritations on the neck and shoulders. Generally, an adapted sun protection cream and a high SPF helps to prevent or alleviate these problems. You can also protect your skin before a sun exposure. You can also start with a cure of nutritional supplements 15 days before going on vacation ( two pills everyday before, during and after your trip).

These nutritional supplements have other beneficial effects:
They have a pigmenting effect that enables you to sunbathe less for an equivalent tanning.
They enable to tan faster and uniformly.
They have a protecting effect against premature aging of your skin.
They have an hydrating effect that stops cutaneous dryness and your skin to peel after exposure.

10 Golden Rules For A Good Tanning :
> Back
Sun is essential to our existence for its metabolic, psychologic and immunological effects but it can also be harmful: reduction of skin elasticity, wrinkles development, rise of skin cancer, and sunburns.

Here are ten golden rules to fully enjoy sunbathing :
- Avoid sunbathing between 12 p.m. and 16 p.m., a period when sun rays are the most intense.
- During the first days, sunbathe progressively ( not more then ¾ hours a day) and avoid the inmobile sleeping position.
- Apply your sunscreens before going out in the morning. Reapply them several times a day and particularly after bathing ( even if most of the sun products are water-resistant, they do not resist to your towel drying!)
- Do not expose your children before six months of age.
- Do not expose children of less three years of age when the sun's rays are the strongest. Protect them with a strong rating SPF and put them clothing that will protect under the sun ( soaked clothes let UV rays penetrate).
- Wear a hat and sunglasses that filtrate UVA and UVB rays.
- Be careful with sun overexposures on reflecting surfaces such as snow, sand and water.
- Height, clouds, wind and beach umbrella are false friends.
- Dry well after bathing. Water drops have a magnifying glass effect wich favours sunburns.
- Drink water very often, particularly for elder people and and children.

If you notice that a beauty spot is changing forms, height or color, consult your dermatologist.

Choose Your Sun Protection :
> Back
An adapted sun protection is essential to only benefit the good effects of the sun without risking any complications. Sun protections are classified by Indice Protection. The higher the indice the stronger the protection. The last researches have put in evidence that UVA rays are as harmful in the long term then UVB rays. Therefore it is necessary to choose a protection indice as strrong as the UVA and UVB.
The choice must take in account :
- The skin type ( as white is your skin, as strong is the protection).
- The conditions in which you are going to sunbathe ( as strong is the intensity as strong must be the protection: mountain, boat, tropical countries)
This board will help you choose the adapted sun protection in your case :
